Breeze ChMS Review: Is Tithely Church Management Still Simple?

Breeze built its reputation by promising churches something surprisingly difficult to find:

Simple church management software.

It was designed primarily for small and midsized churches that needed a better way to manage people, attendance, giving, check-ins, events, and communication without hiring a database administrator.

That simplicity helped Breeze become one of the most recognizable church management systems available.

But Breeze has changed.

Tithely acquired Breeze in 2021, and Breeze ChMS has now officially become Tithely Church Management. The familiar Breeze platform is being connected more closely with Tithely’s giving, communication, website, app, and worship tools.

So, is Breeze still the simple church software pastors have loved?

Or does becoming part of the larger Tithely platform change what made Breeze special?

What Is Breeze ChMS?

Breeze is a cloud-based church management system originally designed to make church administration easier for people who are not technology experts.

A church management system, commonly shortened to ChMS, helps a church organize the people, activities, contributions, and administrative information connected to its ministry.

Breeze can help churches manage:

• Members and households
• Contact information
• Groups and classes
• Attendance
• Children’s check-in
• Events and registrations
• Volunteer information
• Online and text giving
• Contribution records
• Giving statements
• Email communication
• Text messaging
• Forms
• Member directories
• Reporting
• Service planning

Breeze has now been renamed Tithely Church Management, but the core idea remains largely the same: provide churches with the essential tools they need without making the software unnecessarily difficult.

Is Breeze Now Tithely Church Management?

Yes.

Breeze ChMS has officially become Tithely Church Management.

Tithely acquired Breeze in 2021 and gradually began bringing the two platforms together. In November 2025, the company announced that Breeze would operate under the Tithely Church Management name.

For existing Breeze customers, this is not supposed to require a complete migration to an unfamiliar product.

The company says existing church data, workflows, and pricing will continue while the platform gains:

• A more modern interface
• Closer integration with Tithely Giving
• Improved communication tools
• More automation
• Expanded reporting
• Volunteer scheduling
• Service planning
• A unified Tithely login
• Access to more Tithely products

This creates an unusual situation for anyone reviewing the product.

Church leaders may still search for “Breeze ChMS,” while the product they purchase today is called Tithely Church Management.

For that reason, I will use both names throughout this review.

What Breeze Does Well

Breeze Is Easy to Learn

Ease of use has always been Breeze’s greatest strength.

Many church management systems are powerful but complicated. They require considerable training before staff members understand how the database, groups, reports, permissions, and workflows operate.

Breeze was built around a different philosophy.

A church secretary, pastor, volunteer, or ministry leader should be able to log in and understand the basics without sitting through days of training.

That matters for small churches.

Many churches do not have an information technology department or a full-time database administrator. The person managing the software may also be answering phones, preparing the bulletin, coordinating volunteers, helping with bookkeeping, and handling dozens of other responsibilities.

For those churches, simplicity is not a minor feature.

It may be the most important feature.

The Pricing Is Easy to Understand

Tithely Church Management, powered by Breeze, currently costs $72 per month.

The standard package includes unlimited contacts, unlimited administrative users, and the primary church management tools.

There are no setup fees, long-term contracts, or termination fees for the standard church management package.

That makes the cost easier to understand than platforms that charge based on:

• Number of members
• Number of staff users
• Number of campuses
• Individual modules
• Implementation services
• Required support plans
• Custom pricing negotiations

A flat monthly rate helps churches budget without worrying that the software bill will increase every time the database grows.

Additional Tithely products and optional features can still add to the total cost, so churches should evaluate the full package rather than looking only at the $72 subscription.

People and Household Management Is Straightforward

At its core, a church management system should help a church care for people.

Breeze allows churches to create records for individuals and families, store contact information, add custom fields, organize people with tags, and search for groups based on specific criteria.

A church might use custom fields and tags to identify:

• Members
• Visitors
• Small-group participants
• Volunteers
• Parents
• Children
• Baptism candidates
• New-member class participants
• Ministry leaders
• People requesting pastoral care
• Donors
• People who have not attended recently

The tagging system is one of Breeze’s most useful features because it gives churches flexibility without requiring them to understand complicated database structures.

Check-In Is Simple and Useful

Breeze includes check-in tools for children’s ministry, events, classes, and other activities.

Churches can use check-in to:

• Record attendance
• Print name tags
• Print parent security labels
• Track participation
• Identify first-time visitors
• Review attendance history

For a smaller church, this can provide the necessary security and attendance tracking without requiring a separate children’s ministry platform.

Larger churches should test the system carefully under real Sunday-morning conditions. The needs of a church checking in 40 children are different from those of a multi-campus church checking in hundreds or thousands.

Email and Text Messaging Are Built In

Breeze allows churches to communicate with individuals and groups from within the database.

That means a ministry leader can identify a group of people and send them an email or text message without exporting the list to another platform.

Possible uses include:

• Reminding volunteers about an event
• Contacting small-group members
• Following up with visitors
• Sending weather cancellations
• Communicating with parents
• Sharing registration information
• Reaching people who missed a class
• Sending a church-wide announcement

The standard plan currently includes unlimited emails and a limited number of monthly text messages. Churches sending a higher volume of texts may need to purchase additional messaging capacity.

Built-in communication is convenient, but churches should still evaluate whether the email tools provide the design, automation, deliverability, and reporting they need.

Giving Records Connect With People

Breeze includes online and text giving, contribution tracking, funds, donor records, statements, and giving reports.

When giving information connects with a person’s church record, staff members do not have to manage one system for people and another disconnected system for donations.

This can make it easier to:

• Prepare giving statements
• Identify first-time donors
• Track recurring gifts
• Review giving by fund
• Correct contribution records
• Match donations with households
• Export financial information
• Communicate with donors

Church leaders should still understand the distinction between a church database and a true fundraising system.

Breeze can record and organize donations. That does not necessarily mean it provides the donor journeys, advanced segmentation, relationship tracking, campaign automation, and retention analysis found in more sophisticated fundraising platforms.

Where Breeze May Feel Limited

Simple Software Can Become Too Simple

The main strength of Breeze is also its biggest potential weakness.

It is simple.

A small church may find that refreshing. A larger or fast-growing church may eventually find it restrictive.

Churches with complex operations may need:

• Advanced volunteer scheduling
• Multi-campus workflows
• Detailed permissions
• Sophisticated pastoral-care tracking
• Advanced donor development
• Complex event registration
• Deep accounting integrations
• Custom dashboards
• Automated ministry workflows
• Advanced reporting
• Extensive application integrations

Tithely is adding more features to the Breeze foundation, so some historical limitations may improve.

However, churches should evaluate what is available today rather than purchasing based only on what may be developed later.

Reporting May Not Satisfy Advanced Users

Breeze provides attendance, giving, people, event, and participation reports.

For many small churches, those reports will be enough.

A church with more advanced analytical needs may want greater control over:

• Custom dashboards
• Cross-ministry reporting
• Donor retention
• Giving trends
• Volunteer engagement
• Household participation
• First-time guest movement
• Automated follow-up
• Multi-campus comparisons
• Historical data visualization

The key question is not whether Breeze has reports.

The question is whether it can answer the specific ministry questions your church regularly asks.

Before purchasing, give the salesperson or support team several real reporting scenarios and ask them to demonstrate exactly how the system would produce the answers.

The Transition to Tithely Creates Some Uncertainty

The integration of Breeze into Tithely brings potential advantages.

Churches may gain a more connected platform for giving, church management, communications, websites, apps, and worship planning.

It also creates reasonable questions:

• How much of the original Breeze experience will change?
• Will future development prioritize simplicity or expansion?
• How smoothly will Breeze data connect with other Tithely products?
• Will churches feel pressured to purchase the larger Tithely package?
• Will support remain as personal as Breeze users expect?
• Will existing workflows continue working as the interface changes?
• Will the $72 standalone plan remain available long-term?

The official transition is relatively recent, so some of the long-term impact remains to be seen.

That does not mean churches should avoid the platform. It means they should ask careful questions about what is available now and what is changing.

It May Not Replace Every Church Tool

Tithely presents an increasingly broad set of church products.

A church could potentially use Tithely for:

• Church management
• Giving
• Its website
• A custom church app
• Text messaging
• Email
• Worship planning
• Event management
• Volunteer scheduling

Using one company for several functions can simplify billing, support, and integration.

But one provider is not automatically the best provider for every need.

A church may still prefer:

• Planning Center for service planning
• WordPress for its website
• A dedicated email platform
• A specialized donor-management system
• A different giving provider
• A dedicated children’s check-in platform
• A more advanced volunteer system

Do not purchase an all-in-one package merely because it contains many tools.

Purchase it when the tools work well enough to replace your current systems and provide a clear operational or financial advantage.

Questions to Ask Before Choosing Breeze

People and Database

• Can we customize individual and household records?
• How are duplicate records identified and merged?
• Can members update their own information?
• Can we control which fields different staff members can view?
• Can we track pastoral-care notes securely?
• How are inactive and deceased records handled?
• Can we import our current database without losing information?

Check-In and Attendance

• Can the system handle our busiest service?
• What label printers are supported?
• Can check-in continue if the internet goes down?
• How are parent security codes managed?
• Can volunteers check people in from tablets?
• Can we create different check-in processes for different ministries?
• How detailed are the attendance reports?

Giving

• What are the current card and ACH processing rates?
• Can donors cover transaction fees?
• What happens when a recurring gift fails?
• Can donors update their own payment information?
• How quickly are funds deposited?
• Can giving records be exported to our accounting software?
• What happens to recurring gifts if we leave the platform?

Communication

• How many text messages are included?
• What do additional messages cost?
• Can people reply to text messages?
• Can we automate visitor follow-up?

Who Is Breeze Best For?

Breeze or Tithely Church Management may be a strong fit for churches that:

• Are small or midsized
• Do not have a dedicated technology staff
• Want software volunteers can learn quickly
• Need a straightforward people database
• Want simple children’s check-in
• Need basic attendance tracking
• Want giving records connected to member records
• Prefer one flat monthly price
• Want unlimited contacts and users
• Value phone and email support
• Want the option to add other Tithely products

Who Should Consider Other Systems?

A church should compare other platforms when it:

• Operates several large campuses
• Has complicated staff permissions
• Needs advanced donor development

Breeze Alternatives

Planning Center

Planning Center may be a better fit for churches that want a modular system with strong service planning, volunteer scheduling, groups, registrations, check-ins, and a congregation-facing Church Center experience.

Its total cost depends on which products and capacity levels the church selects.

Churchteams

Churchteams combines people management, groups, giving, texting, workflows, registration, and church communication.

It may appeal to churches that place a strong emphasis on small groups and automated follow-up.

Realm

Realm may work well for established churches that need church management, accounting connections, communications, giving, and member engagement within a broader ecosystem.

It may require more training than Breeze.

Pushpay Church Management

Pushpay may appeal to larger churches that want giving, engagement, apps, and church management connected within a premium platform.

It will generally require a larger investment and a more detailed sales process.

ChurchTrac

ChurchTrac may be worth evaluating for smaller churches with limited budgets.

It offers membership, attendance, giving, accounting, events, check-in, and worship-planning features at several pricing levels.

My Final Breeze Review

Breeze became successful because it understood a problem that many church software companies overlooked:

Most churches do not need more complexity.

They need software their staff and volunteers will actually use.

Breeze made it easier for churches to organize people, track attendance, manage check-ins, record giving, and communicate without becoming database experts.

That remains its strongest appeal.

The transition to Tithely Church Management gives Breeze access to a larger technology ecosystem and may address some of the limitations churches experienced in the past.

It also raises an important question about the product’s future:

Can Tithely add more power without losing the simplicity that made Breeze valuable?

For a small or midsized church seeking straightforward church management software at a predictable price, Breeze remains a strong option.

For a large, complex, or rapidly growing church, it should be tested carefully against Planning Center, Churchteams, Realm, Pushpay, and other alternatives.

The right church management system is not the one with the largest feature list.

It is the one your staff and volunteers can use consistently to help your church know, serve, and care for people.
